History of LED

Roots of the LED light can be found in the 1907 in discovery of electroluminescence by H.J. Round. But first LED light was created 20 years later by Oleg Vladimirovich Losev.

Producing of first red LED wasn’t until 1962 by the General Electric (Nich Holonyak Jr). After he was known as the father of the LED. At that time cost of LED was impractical. Not until 1970s LED use became more widespread.

Energy Savings

Most electricians will advise their clients to use LED instead of traditional lighting. Although LED do cost more than regular light bulbs in the long run they save the money. They last more than regular light. They have 100 000 hours depending on heat and current. They output more light with 80% efficiency.

Capabilities of LED

LED have superior capabilities. They are reliable and durable. They are more shock resistant. They can produce colors without any filters and they produce very little heat. The output of the LED bulb rises in colder temperatures.

Uses for LED

On the begging LED was used as an indicator light for devices. How the LED lights have evolved so have the uses of LED have evolved. These days LED can be found in everything, traffic lights, cars, devices, aviation etc. They are ideal for heat sensitive products.
